Blaze

16.1 hh Chestnut TB Gelding 17yo

Blaze has been kindly leased to us by Allyssa.

With his sweet and tolerant nature he's safe enough for the beginner and educated enough for the competent rider to really enjoy.

He loves working in the arena and riding out.

Give him a pat or a carrot and he will be your new best friend.

Lucy

15hh Australian Stock Horse Mare 22yo.

On loan from our dear friend Sarah,Lucy has come all the way from Gympie Qld. As Sarah says Lucy doesn't know how small or how old she is. She has "been there, done that" in dressage, showjumping and eventing. Dressage is her forte however she certainly knows all the moves. Suited to the competitive rider wanting to perfect their technique on a real quality schoolmaster.

Itchy (Pinnaroo Jones)

Itchy

16.1 hh TB Chestnut gelding 11 yo

Geoff's own horse, recently has joined the pool of school horses on a part time basis. Itchy, it has to be said, is our male chauvenist of the horses and spends most of his time trying to negotiate for extra feed, treats and general attention. He is a marshmallow through and through but likes to pretend otherwise. He has done show jumping, hunting and started eventing. He is suited to our more experienced riders looking to brush up on their competitive skills.

Lochie (Lochsloy Aristocrat)

Lochie

14.1 hh Brown Welsh Cob 23 y.o.

We bought Lochie in 2000 from Murray Bridge knowing little of his history except that he had done some hacking including an outing at The Royal Adelaide Show.

We soon discovered that everything about this little guy was big. Big movement, big personality and a big heart. Although the flatwork education was there Lochie had minimal exposure to jumping so the job fell to me to rectify this. We had soon mastered the basics of show jumping when one of Geoff's pupils Tony suggested we attend a hunt with Fleurieu Hunt Club. We arrived bright and early at the Waitpinga Hunt Grounds where an experienced group of Combined Hunt Club members had amassed.

As I sat on Lochie amongst the 16-17 hh hunters the Master looked directly at us during the briefing and warned.."There are 66 jumps on this hunt and 60 of them are compulsory. I hope your pony can jump" (So do I, I thought fervently). Lochie gave me the ride of my life, effortlessly matching the bigger horses' stride and sailing over every jump.

Lochie has gone on to take out many prizes in showjumping and Hunter Hurdler classes but the highlight had to be taking out the Second Prize in The Section Fours at The Royal Adelaide Show.

Lochie true to form puffed his little chest out as he walked onto the Main Arena and looked a good 2 hands taller by the time we started.

Lochie is always popular with his pupils and is always baggsed well ahead for the Jumping Clinics. He is now Nick's number one man for jumping.

Lochie is one those special ponies who adjusts according to the ability of his rider and looks after the welfare of the less experienced.

Lollypop

Lollypop13.2 hh Palomino Welsh/Quarter Pony 5yo Mare

Another one of the newies, this little girl is the baby at only 5 years old.Lollypop hasn't joined the school horses yet being a little too young and inexperienced. Geoff went to Geelong to buy this pony as we were impressed with her breeding and temperament. She is in the process of learning the ropes. We think she is going to make a good allrounder, she loves to jump and will make a pretty little show pony too.

Paddlepop (Paddy)

Paddlepop13.3 hh Black 12 year old gelding.

Another of our new additions to Lanyon Riding Centre.Paddy was sold to us by a pupil of Geoff from Victor Harbor. Thanks Maya.
Paddy is currently spending his days having polish added to his education. Nick is contributing to this process earning $2-per ride over the school holidays. We have already discovered that what Paddy loves the best is being a led pony and Briony thinks he might measure up as a relacement for Sadie. High praise indeed! He can do some nice flatwork in the arena now. We think he will be a real asset.

Cocopop

coco_pop.jpg15.1 hh 9 y.o. Skewbald

We bought her from a friend of ours and we know that selling her baby to us has caused our friend an acute case of separation anxiety and buckets of tears (sorry Jean, you're not getting her back). We already know that she is a laid-back girl and a safe conveyance. We purchased her with a view to enable Jodie to have a lighter work-load. As we had recently bought two ponies we decided to indulge ourselves with a theme for the new ponies' names. Hence the pop ponies, Lollypop, Paddlepop and now Cocopop. Just think, we still have Popcorn & Popstar up our sleeves. Thanks to our friends for their helpful suggestions, but Poptart and Alcopop won't be making the cut.

Peace

Peace13.1 hh 25 yo mare

Her nickname is Perfect Peace for a very good reason. Peace has a fan club almost as big as Sadie did. We were lucky enough to be given this pony by our very dear friend -Thanks Waddy.

She is a truly classy pony and knows when it's time to act like a star in the show ring or plod around quietly at home looking after a beginner rider.

Peace has had many successes in the show ring, eventing and show jumping with many different children over the years. She now enjoys working part time with more time for her to relax and indulge in her favorite pass time, eating grass.
